Ohtani

MLB should have created a level playing field and told all the players steroids were accepted if they weren't going to test for them.
One of MLB's greatest qualities is its centuries old records. The steroid era took a huge dump on all of that and one more reason I don't follow the game anymore. Asterisks everywhere.

After that era, I sort of stopped watching as much as I used to. You nailed it Utah... to have the era of when guys were clean (and all those legit records) VS these idiots that juiced up, really tainted things for me. Good post man

I mean I didn’t care what Bonds was on because I enjoyed baseball more then than now. I used to get super hyped watching those Eric Gagne v Bonds matchups, and when Bonds hit 73 homers I thought this guy is out of a video game. And Barry Bonds was doing that at the end of his career,

2001 age 36: 328/515/863 (73 homers)
2002 age 37: 370/582/799 (46 homers)
2003 age 38: 341/529/749 (45 homers)
2004 age 39: 362/609/812 (45 homers)

For me that stretch is the greatest hitting ever. An OBP of over 600 for an entire season. At age 39 lol. And he was doing that with half his games in a tough hitting park

But, the pitching is what tips the scales to Ohtani. Even if he retired next year I’d still say this is the once in a 100 years player. There will be better hitters (not many), and better pitchers, but nobody will ever do both at this current level
So you were okay with cheating, huh? LOL Most insane post ever. Thanks.
It wasn’t cheating. It was allowed. It’s kind of like claiming Lance Armstrong wasn’t the greatest cyclist of all time when literally the entire Tour de France competitors were doping.

So if everyone is doing it, and you are the best at it, then you are the best.

Give everyone steroids today. None of them are coming close to the numbers Bonds put up.

"Show Hey", tightened up his strike zone, and you can see the result.

Truth is False. He's a Rams fan poser just trolling this site. He's a closet Jets fan who met Namath at a mall in Secaucus back in the late eighties and now thinks he can spout off on anything. I had relations with his sister but she left me because of my spending habits.

Argue it then.

It’s the truth.

Especially baseball. Baseball is a skill game. If steroids were a magic potion, then you’d have had tons of guys hitting 70 homers and OBP’ing over 500 in that era. But you didn’t. There was one guy doing it. And I’m not saying it didn’t help him. But he was so far above everyone else in a league that had multiple dopers it’s insane. To deny that wasn’t the greatest hitting of all time is lying to yourself. It was. Stats prove it.

And the selective outrage for baseball juicers vs NFL guys on the juice never made sense to me. Especially when they didn’t even test for it. Look at LeBron James head size from HS to now. It’s exactly Barry Bonds like. I don’t see anyone being outraged that he’s still a tank at 41 almost. You telling me he’s not on anything? And assuming he is, you are still gonna argue he isn’t one of the GOAT? Of course he is juice or not. NBA doesn’t even test for it.

Is Manny Ramirez not a hall of famer? I watched Adrian Beltre very suspiciously go from 20 HR a year to 48Hrs in a contract year. Then he went right back to the player he always was with the Mariners. He somehow made the Hall of Fame.

Steroids will never taint my opinion of players bc I only judge guys on their output. And if anything, these guys were taking a risk with their own bodies by doing it. So they took the risk, for my own entertainment and their own personal ambitions, why would it bother me?

Steroids did excel your game that much and that is the entire point
ManRam, Ramirez, is not a HOF'er because he cheated his ass off most of his career
the NFL has done a lousy job with steroid testing and I would think players would want this mandated because their lives are at stake on the field.
If you are a lot stronger that means you can swing the bat quicker and with strength comes hitting the ball harder and farther.

my guess is you never played the game...JMO of course

Ohtani set an MLB record last night by getting on base 9 straight times. Dude is just unbelievable. Let's hope he can pitch tonight after straining his calf last night

The only argument that can be made from the standpoint of steroids and improvement would be it doesn't help you HIT the ball. An argument could be made however that it might improve your reflexes, which indeed, MAY help you actually hit the ball.

Also, there is a difference between being "allowed" and turning a blind eye to it, which is essentially what baseball did.
If you need to cheat to compete, you get nothing from me. I guess that makes me older school, but so be it. Man up, work, and if you aren't good enough, you aren't good enough, plain and simple. It's what makes insane play(s) by legit players so special. They were (are) able to tune themselves to the point of being able to make those kind of plays

^ All of this. Well stated Golden.

To me, if you have to cheat to make it, then you are no man. Type of people I respect, not only do the right thing, and play fair.. they have outstanding character and integrity (when NO one is looking). Why not just live an honest life, and be who you really are?.

1000% helps you be a better hitter. The stronger you are the quicker your bat speed is which is everything. I have buddies who played at that level, or at least tried to get there and it pisses them off to no end they did it the right way and others did not. I agree with you Bud Selig and co. turned a blind eye because it was good for the business of baseball. But in the long run all these ridiculous stats in that area are BS IMO. Unfortunately I do think Bonds and co. will eventually make the HOF but there is a reason guys were juicing....it made them better

This is where I live. I try and live the best I can. I don't go to churches, I don't pay lip service, just do the best I can, day in and day out. Living that sort of life is either good enough, or it's not. It's the only way I know. I taught myself to have lines I won't cross, a code of conduct, and to control myself. Control yourself and you have the best chance to control what situations you may find yourself in. Has worked for me for 72 years so far
