Wow, gone for four games. That $10,000,000 contract don't look so good now.

Well, targeted 9 times. 4 receptions w one TD.
Just when I was starting to get high hopes on the little man here... Ugh.
How in the heck did he hurt himself? Running wind sprints at the beach?
Atwell will be on the shelf for at least four games. His earliest return would be on November 30 for the Rams’ Week 13 matchup with the Panthers.
The 2021 second-round pick has never quite lived up to his draft billing. He played 10 snaps on offense as a rookie with a bigger role as a returner, but landed on season-ending injured reserve halfway through the year. He took steps forward over his next three seasons, culminating in a strong 2024 showing. He saw a downtick in snap share, but still put up career-highs in terms of volume (42 receptions, 562 yards) and efficiency (67.7% catch rate, 9.1 yards per target).
That earned Atwell a one-year, $10MM deal with the Rams this offseason in the hopes that he could produce even more in a bigger role after the departure of Cooper Kupp. Shortly after, though, Los Angeles added Davante Adams. Not only did that bump Atwell down the depth chart, it also gave Matthew Stafford another All-Pro receiver to target. The veteran quarterback is known for funneling targets to his elite wideouts – like Calvin Johnson, Kupp, and Puka Nacua in past seasons – and has continued to do so with Nacua and Adams this year.
As a result, Atwell only has four catches this season, though he has taken them for 164 yards to average 41 yards per reception. His injury coincided with Nacua’s ongoing absence, however, rendering him unable to take advantage of the available targets.
The Rams will hope that Atwell can return this season and contribute in some capacity. He is set to hit free agency next offseason and seem unlikely to earn as lucrative a deal as he did this year.

It’s a hamstring. I’m not going to be too hard on the kid for that type injury……..
JMO he won’t be back next year. Mumfield has shown he can play and will probably continue to do so. Yes it will go down as a missed draft pick by McVay n Sneed. But………
Anyone who cares to bring it up then you also need to bring up the draft hits also. I’ll be the first to remind you……..

Well said. Tutu definitely won’t be back. Mumfield just might be another late round jewel for the good guys. Good time to be a Rams fan!

As far as it concerns me, he earned his contract with that 88 yard game winner. Different season if we lose that game.

Then there's this ^

Might Brennan Presley or Tru Edwards be called up?
Both looked great in preseason. Presley is 1” shorter than Atwell, so the odds are in his favor. Just kidding.

He was a waste of money plain and simple. While I think he is very talented and has a lot of speed, he really doesn't fit the style of play the Rams have. They need bigger guys who can block downfield and he is not that. I think he would fit in great with the Chiefs, Patriots, Ravens, or Vikings downfield passing attacks.
We should have traded him while he still had some value. Another stupid move by the front office.

Still an enigma...not sure why everyone is so high on Mumfield. He may be good, but have barely seen him in action. Whit is a physical player who blocks. But Tutu has the best hands of all these guys, and he's a deep threat. He catches just about everything tossed his way. Stinks we can't get him more involved. So we will settle for someone with less talent I guess.

Diminutive WRs and QBs do not last long in the NFL.

Before the Jags game, McVay said he was making good progress and expected him back soon. “When we put limited, it means really that if he was going to take a normal workload, we're just a little bit more mindful of some of the high-speed yards," stated McVay. "Everything is trending in the direction of we expect him to be ready to roll. We’re just being smart, easing him back in, but it's not because of any sort of setbacks. He's making good progress so we feel good about him.”
My gut feeling is the Rams tried to trade him and couldn't find any trade partner to take on his $10 million salary.
They needed to free up a roster spot with the trade for Roger McCreary, so Atwell went on IR.

Definitely a possibility, esp after the Jags game when everyone but Atwell (and Corum, who seemingly has stone hands) caught a pass. Still, Atwell has been a difference maker, just not frequently enough. Did they try moving him to the Giants?
I’m kind of wondering why they’re keeping Tre Brown with McCreary joining.

I hope so, both are known for playing a more physical style than what we are currently fielding.

Yep agree have not seen much of Mumfield. But my counter is not sure why we have determined kind of already………..
No one in here has said they are “so high” on Mumfield. But when he has played I guess the question is what has he done wrong. I thought his TD against JAX looked damn good…………
I’ll go by what Adams has said regarding Mumfield………………..

“Another stupid move”……….
Oh ok. I won’t ask you for your list because well that will probably take a while trying to come up with that list. But if you do make a list of their solid moves also……….

That's fair. I have read some write ups praising how great a fit he is, what Adams thinks of him, etc. All good I guess, but I have seen with my eyes what Atwell can do. I think that Mumpfield is still a big ??? At what point do we blame Tutu for not getting more targets? This has been talked about forever it seems in here. But he makes an 88 yard game winner...then crickets. No targets. I guess he has to go if we don't use him. But then why pay 10MM? I am not sold that he can't get separation. I just think he's an afterthought out there. Always.

You have read my stuff. Ive been a fan of Atwell’s and I've said not his fault that’s he hasn't gotten a lot of looks.
With that said I don’t see him coming back next year. Right or wrong. And it will go down as a bad trade because of who we could have drafted………..
I didn't have an issue with the $10m but fact is like others have said the Ram’s only outbid themselves in hindsight. And let’s be honest the DB on that 88 yard TD fell……………

Yes- very true. But Tutu did his juke and caused the fall..;) He will def be gone next year. I am sure they have been trying to trade him, and I'm surprised no takers. Maybe the price tag is too high and Rams won't pay it- or part of it.
