Is it too early to talk draft?

The season is already going way better than last year but we still have a lot of holes. I can already see areas that need to be addressed in next years draft. I know the season is just getting started but some things are obvious. Here are some needs we have now and will in the future.
1. QB - This one is obvious. Stafford is very long in the tooth and while he still has a great arm, his mobility sucks. It's past time to develop our QB of the future.
2. RT - Havenstein is very old. He is no longer a top tier RT. This needs to be addressed ASAP.
3. C - Shelton isn't the answer. Apparently Limmer isn't either. I'm still mad that we drafted Tutu Atwell over Creed Humphrey but that's water under the bridge. We need to draft a replacement.
3. CB - We need two. It's going to take some time for these guys to develop so we need to draft them two years ago.
4. ILB - I have been very impressed with Landman. I think Dolac could be the guy but if he can't beat out Speights we have a problem. Even if he does come in and play well the second half of the season we still need to address this position.
5. RB - We need a big bruiser with speed. We have enough small RB's. I like the combination of Williams and Corum but we need a big guy.
Many of these are the same needs we had last year that weren't addressed. How long can we wait before things start to go south? anything?

Yep. Way too early to talk draft. Mainly because having no idea of draft position.
Ideally, the Falcons puck is high enough that they can grab a QB without trading, and then they can use their puck for one of OL, DB, or LB. Just hard to even ponder the idea without an approximate draft position.

I dont think this draft have any clear top qbs. Rams might not need to move up far, or maybe not at all to get the QB they want (if that is the direction they go)

The problem is QB's always get overdrafted. Atlanta is good enough to win some games and draft in the mid to late teens. Our pick will be in the late 20's if not 31 or 32.
The Jets and Saints are 0-4 and both need QB's. Ditto for the 1-3 Browns, Raiders, and maybe the Panthers.

Yeah that could happen. With that said, I dont want to see the rams trading multiple picks to make a huge reach on a qb. Hopefully a solid qb falls to them, it has happened before Hurts, Lamar, Mahomes, Rodgers, are just a few of the current starting qbs that were drafted mid to late 1st, early 2nd round.

pretty bullish on our chances this year huh? I hope ATL will finish out of the playoffs so we can hopefully have a 15-20 pick

My first choice is to draft a QB in the 1st round (don't use both 1's) and have him sit behind Stafford for 2026. Maybe a QB that needs to learn from McVay and Stafford for a year. Bennett will be our solid QB2 and who knows, maybe he's the long term answer.
The other option is a veteran QB because McVay has never developed a rookie QB from start to finish. McVay is pretty intense and doesn't really trust rookies so I don't know how that would work. I definitely don't see a rookie QB starting. I would not be surprised at all if we trade for a veteran.

I will say this... about 6 months ago, I was ecstatic over the college QB's playing this season. I thought this year would be lights out heavy QB's options in college for the upcoming draft. I was expecting the '26 QB draft class to be the best in a decade just about...
Welp, to this point...Not anymore.
Some of the top guys I thought were absolute winners, are changing mind (THUS FAR) by the play on the field this season.
Simply put, this next QB class seems to be just average.

agreed so hopefully they won't reach on the pick

This won't be popular, but...I say let Jimmy G or Benett take over next year and use the draft for OL and CB.
The "top" college QB's don't look good at all so far. There are maybe 2 or 3 QB's that look ok, but none were considered the top prospects.

it is going to be interesting to see how many teams reach for a QB in round 1. we may be able to wait until round 2 to get a QB. Like you said we have a lot of needs which you nailed the 1st 2 IMO

i am somewhat skeptical about the Rams drafting a QB especially if this is Staffords last season. This is a SB built team currently and if we can keep all our players for next year not sure it makes sense for a QB to be a rookie for the team. Too steep of a learning curve if Stafford plays next season i see a scenario where we draft one.

the way McVay redshirts his top draft picks I would not be surprised they draft a QB

Not sure if a decent one will be there when it's our turn but this is actually the perfect scenario. Don't bring in a rookie and plan for him to start right away. Let him sit behind Stafford for a year and learn. QB's who start immediately usually don't fare well. Just look at how Cam Ward is doing right now. He's going through a lot of growing pains. Then look how much better Aaron Rodgers was after sitting behind Brett Favre. I say it's past time to draft a top QB.

if you go down the list there are about 7-8 teams that still need a QB so it is going to be interesting to see what teams do. I honestly would love them to go after the OL and DB's. I would not be upset if they used the 1st 2 picks on OL to be honest. either way they have to hit on these picks. I don't think they can continue to use high draft picks and sit them for a year....like the year before Verse and Fiske were immediate starters. that has to happen in the upcoming draft or we have to go out and overpay for free agents. Yesterday I was reading about the speculation of trading for the Colts Anthony Richardson. I say hell no. Why?
He completion percentage in college was in the high 50’s. The windows are much tougher in the NFL and his competition percentage is much worse playing now.
I don’t think that’s something that is correctable at this stage of his career.
Very hard pass.

I’d bet dollars to doughnuts Stafford plays out his contract at least
Brady played well into his 40s and was effective doing it so Stafford could do it

Agree it's never too early to talk draft, doesn't matter what position at this point. I agree with most of this NN1.....
QB - I have been very disappointed in the play of the top college QB's so far this year, Arch has been horrible. I would love to see us use a day 3 pick on Anthony Richardson, maybe include Bennett in the deal and bring him in to be the future QB. This would allow us both first rounds to use on OL and CB.
OL - There are times when this line looks good and times that it definitely hurts us. We just don't value the offensive line like we should. Absolutely agree C and RT are top needs. Are there some possible FA's that could help here, I'd like to see us take a feeler on Jedrick Wills for RT, he is more than likely going to sit out the year to fully recover from a knee injury. He is a first-round talent, former #10 overall pick 26 years old. why not get him in the fold as an injured player recovering but getting the lay of the land. That said, I think we should grab the best tackle or center, with the blood clots for Jackson, we can't be safe with no plan there as well. I would think a center would fall in round 2 or 3.
CB - Definitely need help here, I agree 2 would be great, I love the Forbes move, I think as the season goes on, he will only get better, but I still have concerns on Durant, Williams and the rest of the CB crew. I am good with our Safety room.
ILB - I agree with help here, I am still disgusted with the Chris Paul move, there is NO way we keep Reeder over him, and now leaves us another hole to fill. I love what Landman has done so far, but can he maintain that past this season? I really thought we were set for years with Speights, Landman, Paul and Dolac.
RB - Here is where I differ a bit, we still haven't seen Hunter yet and if you look back on Corum's career at Michigan, he was that back gaining the tough yards into the end zone. I would have really loved us drafting Skattebo on place of Hunter because of his versatility, but let's give Hunter some carries.
It is perfect time to start focusing on the top players at positions of need in the college ranks....

Yes two first rounders need to be OL and CB..
Ideally move one of 1st rounders for extra day 2 picks and address C as well.
Even better move a 1st rounder for a 2027 first rounder so we keep a QB option. But need an extra pick this year.
No QB please from this class.
No early RB or WR.

They definitely have to hit on these picks. If we can hit on 3rd and 4th round picks, I don't see why we shouldn't do very well with our two first rounders. OL and CB would be great choices if there isn't a QB worth taking. We need to protect Stafford and we certainly need a lot of help on the back end of our defense.
