Reeder over Paul? Special Teams Ace?

Reeder better make a lot of noise on special teams this year or McVay's decision to take him over Paul might be the biggest mistake since we drafted Lawrence Phillips over Eddie George. I know some of you are too young to remember that but that's also the same year we took Eddie Kennison over Marvin Harrison.
We all know Reeder sucks as a linebacker. He's shown that over and over. What does McVay see in him? Paul was showing some promise in preseason at the ILB spot. Now Paul has already been picked up off of waivers by Seattle.
McVay's reasoning - Reeder offers more on special teams. I call B.S. Paul didn't even get the chance to really settle in. I'm sure he would have improved on special teams.
We all know that Reeder would have gone unclaimed on the waiver wire and we could have put him back on the PS. If McVay wanted Reeder so bad then why didn't we keep 5 linebackers and drop one of the many defensive linemen? I'm pretty sure Murchison would have gone unclaimed.
I know a lot of other fans are upset and this one really leaves me scratching my head.

C'Mon Man! (in Cris Carter or Keyshon Johnson accent)
"Keeping Reeder over Paul might be the biggest mistake since we drafted Lawrence Phillips over Eddie George." Or drafting Eddie Kennison over Marvin Harrison?
Dude, Chris Paul was just not good enough. Paul is an undersized LB who lasted until the end of round 5 and then cleared waivers of all 32 teams after he was cut. Even now he's a PS JAG on a random team. Meanwhile Reeder is a reliable veteran NFL player going into his 7th year. You gotta stop the hysteria and trust McVay on this. We were just fine after trading Ernest Jones.
This Chris Paul thing reminds me of the Rok Watkins mania back in the St. Louis days.

You’re not considering that this was not something else. You’re wondering why McVay chose yellow over orange, when the orange shirt was way better. Maybe the orange shirt never fit.
I am the biggest (self proclaimed) advocate of improving our ILB position, but Paul must not have fit well. This had very little to do with Reeder. I bet we never hear the real reason either.

My gut feeling it wasn’t the physical aspect. Some young guys come in expecting to perform at a high level then find themselves competing against grown men with NFL experience and then, their confidence wanes - and it shows up in practice. Plus, the mental aspect of a learning defensive scheme, dealing a completely new coaching staff, not to mention the personal side such as moving, money… etc.
It can overwhelm some guys. Not saying he is dumb, some people process things differently and maybe slower. Doesn’t mean he can’t have a successful career. Time will tell.

To me it was a mystery a lot of pre season hype "steal of the draft etc". This off season was brutal. Paul, Lampkin, Ingle, Pressley etc

Just watched last episode of Behind the Grind.. lots of focus on LB's.. Paul not even mentioned. I think they made that decision early.

You mean to tell me he didnt want to make the Rams 53 to be on ST BUT instead he wanted to be on Seattle's practice squad for 1/8 the salary AND not play on Sundays?.
