Cousins over Garrappolo?

I've seen articles on both sides of this topic - some say they should be calling ATL right now for a trade, others saying Cousins doesn't give them anything more that Grop has...I admit I haven't really paid much attention to Cousins of late - but my impression is the juice isn't worth the squeeze...unless he can be had for minimal trade capital and on the cheap for salary, then maybe....
But I would listen to opinions to the contrary.....

I think we’re just fine w Gropp. Cost effective and not having to commit to bigger money like we would w Cousins.
Plus, there is a reason no one is really trying hard go get Cousins…

Cousins was a turnover machine last year.

Let's go with what we know. JG knows the playbook, knows the players, is an experienced vet, and has been a winner.

Yes that's the number one role for a backup. JG like him or not, knows the playbook and is ready to go..
Hard no on bringing in anyone to replace JG at this point.
Even if Stafford goes down, I say we ride JG this year.

At this point in the preseason, what other choice could there be? Panicking isn't a viable option, although of course some commentators and fans will likely call for it.
We have to hope that, after practicing as our team's #1 QB for a full offseason and preseason, Jimmy Garoppolo can at least function as a competent 'game manager' performer.
If Stafford can't begin to practice fully by next week, I would recommend the Rams placing him on the Injured Reserve list and committing to opening the season with Garoppolo as their starting QB. What the team *doesn't* need is QB uncertainty on a week-to-week basis, thus I would leave Stafford on the 'IR' list until he's clearly ready to play effectively.
Obviously, this is 'Plan B' in respone to Stafford's medical issues... :?

:geek:
RAM SEASON!!

This for sure......JG knows the NFC West and our playbook.

There’s no possible way you could fit Cousins onto the team given the cap.

Was this even a legit question? It's not one to think about. Cousins doesn't have it anymore, even as a backup.

When I heard his name being associated with the Rams - I was mildly excited....more based on hype than data....wasn't really posting this as a to-do for the Rams - just looking for feedback from people who know more about Cousins than I do....

In 2024, Cousins had 16 interceptions and 13 fumbles. His salary is 27mil for 2025.
Hard pass.

Jimmy and Stetson are fine if Stafford can't go. Like others have said Jimmy G knows the system cold and he took SF to a SB so what has Cousin done?

Thank you, you beat me to it. Plus Cousins has a $40 million cap hit and we'd have to give away draft picks. Not a serious consideration at all.
