And just like that, Scheffler is right where he needs to be. Others to watch, Fitzpatrick, Rory of course... and look at Rickie Fowler... Even Phil Mickelson is in it...
Some solid golf being played.

So guys… is golf a game or a sport? I have a hard time calling it a sport when 80 year olds can do it.
Like bowling or darts.
I know, I will catch some blowback. I’m just jerking the chain a bit - LOL

Sport:
Sport is a physical activity or game, often competitive and organized, that maintains or improves physical ability and skills. Sport may provide enjoyment to participants and entertainment to spectators
What qualifies as being a sport?
A sport is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess,” according to Dictionary.com. Some prominent examples of these sports include racing, baseball, tennis, basketball, golf, bowling, wrestling, etc.
Golf requires all of the above... Physical activity to get up, see where you want to strike it, then hit it. You compete w others. Requires more skill than most sports (to be good). Has spectators, like Bulldawgs mom... best cart gal on the planets btw.
For me, I truly realized this was a sport when I got the shanks.... took me a year. Was prob the most frustrating year of my life. Trust me, the shanks are REAL. The mental part of golf is something to be had.
So, now I would like to hear how this is NOT a sport?

You know my friend I am just teasing you. It qualifies as a sport. It is an age old (fun) debate I use to have with my brother (who has since passed).
Now, drunk guys throwing darts in a dive bar is definitely not a sport.

Strange how much love Rory gets from NBC. It’s actually weird. Here we have a number of fellas who are ahead in scoring, yet don’t even get half the air time Rory gets.
Hey NBC, your bulge is showing.

It's NBC isn't it??? Don't they act like they hate America and put everyone else 1st on everything?

I'm not surprised...
When it comes to Golf, Tennis, I'd rather watch the overseas coverage then MSM in America's...

Guy is a machine when it comes to ball striking...when he putts like he did this weekend he just not beatable.
Tiger's ball striking off the tee was not close to Scotty but his Iron play was better. I still think Tiger was the 2nd best clutch putter ever (Jack's No, 1) ...so my edge still has Tiger over Scotty with Jack over the both of them

I feel the exact same way. I think if Scottie keeps winning like this, I’ll change my mind and put Tiger behind Scottie. But right now, Jack is #1, Tiger #2 then Scottie at the 3 spot.
I do however think Scottie’s past 16 months or so, of play is better than anything we’ve ever seen. Even over Tiger in 2000 (when he won 9 matches including 2 majors).

Scottie has a long way to go to even breathe the same air as Tiger. Go look at see how long Tiger was #1 in the world. Scottie has about 8 more yrs to get to Tiger.

*We're talking about ball striking and overall putting, not the overall world rankings.
Tiger was #1 for 264 weeks in which Scottie still has another 164 more to go. LOL, so yes, in that case it's obvious. I was also discussing over pretty much a 16 month time span as well. Scotties wins that imo over Tiger's best couple of years (1999/2000)
But Scottie has made clear, the comparisons to Tiger is silly... as he knows he has a long way to go.
IMO, if Scottie doesn't follow his you know what around, and keeps the strait and narrow path and stays focused... he will pass Tiger one day. As I really believe if Tiger remained in good spirits, wasnt a womanizer and didnt have a rough divorce, he prob would have beaten Jacks major record and a bunch of other historic records. But Tigers issue is, he has been a womanizer his entire life, and no thanks to his pop who use to bang cocktail waitresses in a damn camper parked by the club house WHILE TIGER would be playing or practicing at the same time on the course. What a great example his dad was. Sad... I actually think you live closer to the course where Tiger grew up playing than I do. It's that old Navy golf Course in Cypress right off Valley View St.
I think I told you sometime back about Tiger and his womanizing. As I saw this first hand...
It was in SD at the top go hotel IVY in the gaslamp on a week night. This was in 2006ish. There was my group of about 10 of us, and Tigers group of about 6 guys. It was a random weeknight and we were the only groups in the entire bar. So eventually we all started talking. Tiger found out about how I love USC and he kept ribbing me because hes a Stanford guy. But he could not say much when it came to football, as you well remember the Pete Carroll years at USC and the dominance. Tiger bought us all round after round. In my group, there was about 7 girls and a couple of them were gorgeous blondes. Welp, one of those gals ended up staying the night w Tiger in his hotel. and I know this because my girlfriend at the time, now wife... had to go pick her up the next morning. And she just kept talking about how well hung Tiger was, and I was like "Will you just STFU, no one here cares about his unit size".
Worst part of this story, Tigers wife at the time was about to have their first baby. So, after watching Tiger and how he just honed in the girl in our group, he even got chummy w me so he could get access to her (and it worked)... I saw right through what he was doing. So after that night, I lost all respect for him as a human being.

never understood the womanizing by Tiger, his wife was smoking hot. However if you watched the documentary on him that is exactly what his dad did. So maybe it was learned behavior. I also think the influence of MJ and Barkeley didn't help either.
as far as ball striking and putting sorry Tiger was better at both. He always made the putts when he had to. I love Scottie but I can't sit here and put him in the same sentence as Tiger. I hope Scottie continues to win. I also believe Scottie has stiffer competition now than Tiger. The young players are so much better now then in the past.
I think the 2 biggest things that hurt Tiger was his intense SEAL training he did. His old coach Hank Haney used to talk about it and never understood why he did that. That is where he hurt his knee for the 1st time. Also in the middle of his career the swing change. That made zero sense. Anyway love watching golf and the major tournaments specifically. Later
