Will Nick Bosa be the next albatross contract in San Francisco?

He's got a cap hit of $42 million in 2026 and $52 million in 2027. Yikes. I can't see SF paying him that.
Also, thug malcontent Trent Williams has a cap hit of almost $39 million next year so he will either retire or get traded. He's not worth anything near that anymore.

Why do the 49ers have so much cap space?
As of early July 2025, the New England Patriots have the most salary cap space in the NFL, with just over $67 million, according to Pro Football Network. The San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions follow with over $40 million each

yes and considering how much he actually plays. their season will depend on one player. If McCaffrey can stay healthy they will be competitive. If not they are toast

Good question. They have a lot of big contracts with Kittle, Williams, Bosa, Warner, but they did dump Dweeb-O. Also, Aiyuk and Purdy haven't kicked in yet and only count for $9 mil each in 2025. All of those salaries will increase next year but how much will the cap go up?

I agree that CMC makes their offense run and covers up a lot of Brock Purdy's flaws. He's always been injury prone and the Niners ride him like a rented mule. I expect him to miss some games again this year and throw off the continuity of their offense. With Aiyuk out for a while and Dweeb-O gone, they will rely heavily on him again. Sure, SF could make the playoffs with a healthy McCaffrey but they lost a lot of talent in free agency. I'm hoping they win just enough to have lower draft pick but miss the playoffs, say 9-8? The Bengals won 9 games last year and missed the playoffs.

Much of the talk here in SF now has to do with Juwan Jennings. He’s smoked the Rams at times, so it would be nice if he left.

It must be why they have so much cap room...

Considering what Watt just signed for in PT in getting $41M a season, how long till we hear Bosa wants to match that. (currently Bosa is getting $34M a season)

Not sure what they will do if there team is failing and doubtful to make the playoffs maybe a soft reset at the trade deadline by unloading Williams if any takers and Bosa who will command some good value bc there is always a team that feels they are a player away and watching the Rams rent Miller for the back half of the season feel like someone will do the same for Bosa. Me personally unless he is balling out and SF is in the thick of it I am trading Bosa at the deadline. Based on his injury status and cost he is not worth it to keep him. They can't let him walk that would be stupid.
He is not as good as TJ Watt. He hasn't been injured as much as most think. But he is not worth 40m that is for sure.
2024 14 GP 9 sacks
Best years were 2020 - 2021 he had double his sack total of last year
