That's been the knock on Stafford his whole career - he couldn't win the big games. Detroit made the playoffs 3 times with Stafford - all wildcard games and he went 0-3. Lost 26-6 at Seattle, lost 24-20 at Dallas and lost 45-28 at New Orleans. Hopefully he'll turn it around here. Steve Young managed to turn it around. Jim Plunkett (who should be in the HOF IMO) turned it around. Hopefully Stafford will too with a better organization around him...D-GenerationX wrote: ↑August 31st, 2021, 12:57 pm8 wins? In 12 years? C'mon, man. Can't dress that up.
I am still onboard with the trade. Jared Goff could not return. Well was too poisoned here.
But my question is this particular guy as the replacement. Forget Detroit. Go back to Georgia. Lost all his big games there too. Oh, lit it up against Kentucky. Showed Vanderbilt what was what. Florida? Alabama?? NOT SO MUCH.
This is more of a finger cross than a lot here let on. That's all. This will be no waltz to the SB.
And I PICKED THEM for the Super Bowl anyway!! So obviously, I need my own head examined.
How come every other QB who Stafford is compared to or grouped with has managed to lead their team to repeated success but Stafford needs a so called "Championship Caliber" team to get him there.Cornell29 wrote: ↑August 31st, 2021, 1:08 pmThis
When looking at a MLB pitcher, you dont look at his win/loss record by itself bc they could be on a horrible team. You look at era, whip, run support, batting pct against too.
Same with Stafford. Look at all his numbers, not just win/loss. I never heard of a qb who makes the HOF solely based off his win/loss stat.
Neat.BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑September 2nd, 2021, 5:44 pm Well was too poisoned here??? LOLOLOL.
As if Jared Goff:
A. Had a SAY in the matter
B. Is WORTHY of having a say in the matter
You- D-Gen, trying to frame Goff as even a slightly above average Quarterback is a JOKE.
As if this is Aaron Rodgers and Gutenkunst or Tom Brady and Belichick trying to sort through matters.
Your little boy-crush Goff (either that or you suck at Quarterback evaluation) was KICKED OFF the Rams team by Sean McVay due to Incompetence, lack of growth and emotional maturity. He plain wasnt good enough. And Mac paid TWO 1st Rounders to make it happen. And it will be well worth it.
Goff COULDNT come back? If you actually believe that beside from the fact you DELUDE yourself with that, it is sadly laughable.
Goff is not worthy of a say in this matter.
A 24-32nd level Quarterback (I'm being nice) never is.
Go re-read the first post in the thread, ace. The Jared Goff mention is....??BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 2:40 am It was YOUR Butthurt remark that Goff "COULDNT come back, well was too poisoned," At any point after the season did McVay or Snead even HINT at reconciliation ?
I'm long over Goff, but I'm not gonna sit here and let teenage girls imply that Goff's exodus was a two-way street. Just setting the record straight. And without your Ignorant statement I wouldnt have brought up JG.
Do it again, I'LL do it again. All good.
I see you also "conveniently" left out your quote where YOU brought up Jared, not anyone else. LOL. Nice try.
I'm hoping he settles down on the Goff obsession as the season gets going. But it's a coin flip, based on all available evidence so far.
Who cares seriously Mike. No one cares anymore!BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:09 amI'll stop bringing up Goff when YOU can acknowledge the fact that Goff was Fired/rejected from the Rams and not that the Rams and Goff "agreed" to part. He is mentioned by me in my second post (the one you quoted) simply as a way to illustrate this was not about Jared Goff at all. It was about our current QB. But the mere mention of his name seems to be your bat signal. In you come on the white horse to "set the record straight". Again, to answer a question : NO ONE ASKED!!
You seem destined to become one of those "Samantha Bradford" cats. You do realize that, correct? Guys that talked about him months, and then eventually YEARS after he was on our squad.
It's sad, frankly. Awkward for the rest of us too. 'Fatal Attraction' was a movie, guy. Not a "how to" guide.
Middling Quarterbacks dont have that kind of clout.
I agree with this for the most part pretty strongly.NorCal RF wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:12 am “I remain cautiously optimistic and AFAIC he needs to prove it before I'm willing to anoint him or the Rams anything. Like Mike and interacting with him but when he gets ahold of something............D-GenerationX wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:13 amI'm hoping he settles down on the Goff obsession as the season gets going. But it's a coin flip, based on all available evidence so far.

I like Mike a lot. He's an extremely knowledgeable football fan and obviously is rabidly passionate about his team.

Well was poisoned- too damn funny![]()
Absolutely agree 100%. But it has to to proven on the field by the two of them. Assumption is just that assuming with no factual proof.D-GenerationX wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:15 amI agree with this for the most part pretty strongly.NorCal RF wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:12 am “I remain cautiously optimistic and AFAIC he needs to prove it before I'm willing to anoint him or the Rams anything. But I love our coach. Love the guy. And I truly think he feels he can really go to down with a QB with a different skill set like Stafford brings.
Then do it Mike. Someone else brings him up ignore. We know where you stand with him which isn’t meant as a derogatory towards you.BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:15 amJared Goff was brought up in this thread by one D-Generation- X.
MY participation in this thread is simply correcting a false assertion he has about Goff's exit from the ball club. I've moved on from the scrub.
Fair enough. I just don’t want you to go down that road again………….BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2021, 7:35 amI cant ignore Nor. I cant allow false propaganda to exist. I know its MY problem, I'm just wired that way. But I'll try.
Remember though in here at least it’s just false propaganda in the eye of the beholder. no I misread the stat went back and read it again. yes I knew that about Stafford. going to be a tough game but we need to run the damn ball to give us a chance.DMRamFan wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:21 amYou're joking right... Toasty has posted Stafford record w winning teams maybe 10 times. LOL. Its his favorite post lately.
I will say this, if Staff plays the same in GB that he has the past couple of weeks, its time to start thinking about some different options.
you are 100% correct. this again is a team game and the QB gets too much credit when they win and too much credit when they loseFelixTheStonerCat wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:43 am Let's be honest for a minute though. Thats not all on Matthew Stafford. The Lions record with him as a QB is 81-93-1. So yeah, it definitely wasn't all on Stafford.
Ryan needs to retire. his play gets worse every week....think they are kicking themselves for not drafting Fields now?DMRamFan wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:48 amBut im sure the Staff haters will tell us different.FelixTheStonerCat wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:43 am Let's be honest for a minute though. This whole debbie downer thing that sometimes hits our board like a cancer, gets tiresome from these posters, Felix. Glad you are upbeat like me.
Im no Stafford mom, but lets see how he finishes the year. If we continues down this path of the last few weeks, then we may need to start looking at other options for 2022. I absolutely do not want to be stuck in a Matt Ryan situation, where every year we are a bit above average. LA needs to shine.
I can't say the negative in everything like alot of sports fans. I like to see the positive. Yeah, we had our asses handed to us, but maybe this bye week will get them motivated.DMRamFan wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:48 amBut im sure the Staff haters will tell us different.FelixTheStonerCat wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:43 am Let's be honest for a minute though. I mean, look who he had as his play makers in Detroit. Other then Calvin Johnson, he had a revolving door of receivers. Never had a good ground game, and had a good defense once. How can you win anything when you didn't have the pieces like Matthew Stafford hasn't had with Detroit? I'm one of the biggest Stafford fans here. Always have been.ocram23 wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:46 amyou are 100% correct. this again is a team game and the QB gets too much credit when they win and too much credit when they loseFelixTheStonerCat wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 11:43 am Let's be honest for a minute though. I came back to it because I thought it was interesting that Stafford has always struggled against good teams with some exceptions like the Tampa game. On the flip side Goff generally played well against strong competition but would sometimes lay a major huevo against poor teams like the Fins last year and also the Jets. The Lions in 2018 etc. Always dominated the Cards but always sucked against the niners. Goff always looked so calm in prime time games but Stafford has the deer in the headlights look in those big primetime games.
Neither Goff or Stafford are huge play extenders with their legs of course. Dominate the Rams O-line and derail the running game is a good way to slow a pocket passer down obviously. Everybody is not Tom Brady in the pocket. Most of today's top QB's have the legs.DMRamFan wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 12:54 pmSome valid points, but I have to disagree about the dear in the headlights look. That was Goff to a tee. BUT, in Goff's defense he did show up at times in big games.toast49 wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 12:44 pm I came back to it because I thought it was interesting that Stafford has always struggled against good teams with some exceptions like the Tampa game. Goff in the Tampa Monday nighter last season. 51 pass attempts and a pretty good game. 3 TD's and almost 400 yards passing. Couple weeks later he lights up the Cards and goes 37 of 47 attempts for 351 yards and a big win. That Monday nighter against the Bears 23 of 33 and 2 TD's.
I guess in primetime Goff looked good within the system and Stafford has not looked good on the big stage. 0-3 in the playoffs.
That being said....I cant figure out Stafford. He is very up and down. One week, its lights out... the other, it looks like his lights got knocked out. But bottomline, you know Stafford is an upgrade. You have to know that. Come on Toasty... but it is discouraging when we have a QB go from MVP talk to lets NOT extend him YET, talk.
No one in here is denying that Stafford has crapped the bed in the past two weeks. But, lets give it till the end of the season. The issue is, im not sure what QB would do good when your OL isn't blocking, your head coach wont establish a run and your receivers drop the ball like we have been doing lately OR let the ball go through their hands to give it to the defense...
This wkend will tell me what we are made of.
Agree?
