Goff is no scrub. He's in that Kirk Cousins range though I got Cousins slightly higher.
Yep I would have them about the same. Goff still has a potential upside but It could go either way for him.
Cousins is better IMO

Goff had time in the first half and looked good - we've certainly seen that before. In the second half he had some pressure, some wet hands and some scoreboard differences due to Rodgers picking apart the Lions D. Circumstances changed.
Goff can look great when the play unfolds as called, but when/if it breaks down, he's not elite obviously. Every QB can be pressured into mistakes, but the top QB's (like Rodgers last night) can also extend plays and even beat a well deployed defense on regularity. Again, Goff can't do that, the top QB's can including Stafford.

Maybe in some ways but Goff may actually be a better game manager. Vikes are a good team that always seems to underperform with Cousins. This year is no different so far.

It harkens me back to HBO Hard Knocks when Goff admitted he didn't know the sun rose in the east and set in the west. He's just not a smart guy and fortunately McVay saw that he couldn't win a championship with him.
Stafford is unbelievable and the best is yet to come.

Jared actually played really well in the first half, but that second half…..
He’s playing basically the way he played with us. Not terrible, in fact, give him a clean pocket and he can dice you up. Just the inconsistency is what always got to me with Jared. It’s shown so far over 2 games.

Good Goff, bad good, good Goff, bad Goff....the most inconsistent player, ever. He will be a back up in about 2 years.
I just do not miss those days… we’d all wake up and wonder if Good Goff or bad Goff takes the field. You remember our post last season? Someone would say ‘what’s it gonna be today, what Goff will we be getting?’.
what fans want is security of sorts. We want to be able to rely and count on the hardest position on the field… the QB spot. With Goff, MOST of us just got tired of the roller coaster. Last ngt showed me he is still exact same Goff. He played well in the beginning, the D realized they needed to pressure him… then boom. The same ol typical ending. I’m just so thankful, it’s all over.
But hey… thanks for the trade Lions.
He is now, 0-9 without mcvay .

Yeah, his good looks REALLY good...
...but his bad looks REALLY bad.
yup , from heaven to hell and it only takes a lil bit of pressure in his face for that to happen .

the inconsistency is because no matter how good your o line is , you will have games that the pressure is in your face for basically most of the game . D-lines overpowers Olines all the time , in some games it is for half a game , in some games for 3 quarters and in some games for 1 quarter but it always happens , or almost always . And in those occasions , he just can't function . So he functions really well when protected , BUT with pressure , he is bottom 5 . That is the reason for the inconsistency and the reason he will always be a below average , mediocre qb . He panics under pressure and makes dumb mistakes .

I have been a Goff supporter he played well tonight outside of the 2 fumbles - one was a bad exchange combined with a lot of rain the other was on him totally. The shot to Hockenson in the back corner was literally perfect. The Lions led at halftime 17-14 then the wheels came off the bus in the second half.
I was going to make a thread on how bad Detroit is, but instead I will say here their Defense is awful it wasn't Rodgers even though he is great the Lions D made him look unbelievable! They couldn't stop him all night. The endless penalties, awful secondary (no Okuda) and that's why Goff lost. Throw in bad play calling 4-1 with a really great running attack (Williams/Swift) they throw an incomplete pass *** stupid especially with a talented OL and strong Center to push the pile.
It will be a couple years they need better receivers and a lot more on defense.
Both fumbles were on Goff. Nothing wrong with exchange in regards to what center did…………..
In a “couple of years” they will have another starting QB. It won’t even be that long……………
And draft picks. The Lions were looking down the road. The Rams for this year. The trade can't be judged for either side until each's trade horizon is reached.

Lol, well of course that really means about nothing. We'll have to
guess how Stafford would have looked in the games Goff played under Fisher (better obviously, but…). And how Goff would have played in those last 27 games for the Lions in which they didn't have Stafford (somewhat better than those Lions QB's is quite possible).
Whatever, the Stafford and McVay results are all I care about regarding these comparisons.

Green Bay dropped back in coverage the entire first half giving Goff a clean pocket and daring him to pluck them apart, as he did.
Green bay brought the heat in the second half and dared Goff to fall apart, which he did without a clean pocket.
Goff defined.
Green Bay also had the ball 12+ minutes more than the RAMS due to the defense not being able to keep Rodgers off the field. That's almost a quarter more than the RAMS and Goff had time to score.
