Fiske.... Huh? What is his role?
I recognize Fiske is coming off an injury and had a great rookie year, but I am not understanding how the Rams are using him. I am not a big snap count guy, but to the blind eye he does not appear to be in there much. Is he a pass rush specialist?

Turner is the one I'm worried about. He had a phenomenal rookie year and has regressed each season. He was supposed to be our best player on defense.

Re: Fiske.... Huh? What is his role?
I just looked it up and Fiske is playing about 60% of the snaps, I am not sure how that fits with league averages. I think it goes without saying that the absence of Donald affects Turner's play. Who would have thought Byron Young would be the best player on D this year?

Re: Fiske.... Huh? What is his role?
Donald had guys like Gene Gaines inside and Fiske is the same type player. A Big Body in the trenches that must be accounted for that creates room for the quicker, more skilled player to get to the ball.Slickjack wrote: ↑October 14th, 2025, 11:10 am I just looked it up and Fiske is playing about 60% of the snaps, I am not sure how that fits with league averages. He's also one of the guys that's jamming and pushing that line back, when we stuff a running play, that go unrecognized because they didn't make the tackle.
He's not taking any penalties and the D-Line is playing solid right now, and as NorCal stated, and I agree, is the least of our concerns.

Fiske, imo will rebound as the season progresses. He was close to a few sacks Sunday. As long as he is playing and healthy, I expect for the sack production to come as he rebounds from last year injury

I think the run defense has been much better this year, although the last game was not great

Re: Fiske.... Huh? What is his role?
This^ other than I can see oc’s point. 107 yards per game given up is more than I thought it was. Leaves us middle of the pack which isn’t where we want to be…….therealheadslap75 wrote: ↑October 14th, 2025, 2:27 pmI think the run defense has been much better this year, although the last game was not great
What is saving the D is TD’s allowed which is only 7 and sacks. I have to assume pressures is towards the top of the league also…….

How about the 2024 draft class:
Verse
Fiske
Corumn
Kinchens - Underrated on our D
Davis - Underrated on our D
Whittington
Limmer
I would put down Karty but...
If Karty ends up panning out we only missed on 2 picks out of 10 in the 2024 draft. Pretty impressive if I do say so myself...

Judge our new coach in his third year. After all our last coach was to game strategy what Yoko Ono was to the Beatles...

Re: Fiske.... Huh? What is his role?
I think the glory stats aren't there for a lot of these players but overall the defence has been great this year. Well maybe last game against the run not so much..
Shula needs to be less conservative if we want to get these guys some stats but teams are not beating on us this year but why change a winning defence.

The reason for the original post is that it didn't appears that he was out there much. He showed up big time today and loved to see it.

I think it has to be the injury. Another week of rest should have him back in prime shape to help this team make a SB run.

I hope you are correct, he was a second half player last season too.

grade 59.5 by PFF , not very good , actually that is below average . Only has 7 tackles so far . 19 pressures but 0 sacks. A BIG FAT ZERO . I would expect more from a 2nd round pick. IT seems he regressed from his performance last year.

Re: Fiske.... Huh? What is his role?
He showed some signs of life against the Jags and came pretty close to getting a sack. A lot of stuff he does doesn't show up in the box score and ultimately I think he'll be fine. Also, Poona and Davis might be taking up some snaps from him which didn't happen last year.
