Rams-49ers Game Nov, 1954
Brothers and Sisters,
A friend sent me a clipping of a SF newspaper article from November 7, 1954 where the Rams beat the 9ers after their star RB got injured.
Thought you might find it interesting.
No I was not at the game; I was one year old back in Brooklyn.
Eager for the season to start.
Go Rams!

Great article. Love to read the old stuff. This was 4-5 years before I was born.

This was before I was born too. But I enjoy seeing the history of the good guys.

I was unfamiliar with most of the players excecpt Norm Van Brocklin.
The game was played at Kezar Stadium. Van Brocklin passed 16/18 for 290 yards and 3 TDs; Elroy Hirsch had 5 receptions 145 yards, and 2 TDs.
Love it when the 9ers lose!

There's quite a bit of 'recency bias' in looking at those early-to-mid-1950s versions of the Rams, plenty of fans don't appreciate what terrific performers our team had back then; there's a reason that players like Norm van Brocklin, Elroy 'Crazylegs' Hirsch, Bob Waterfield, Dick 'Night Train' Lane, Tom Fears and Les Richter are all in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.Claremontram wrote: ↑June 20th, 2025, 8:02 pm

Our team won that game by 42-34, however the Good Guys finished at only 6-5-1 overall that season, which resulted in merely a fourth-place finish in the Western Conference, it was their worst record since '47 (6-6).
If the Browns and Lions hadn't fielded such dominant squads during that '50-55 time period, the Rams likely would have managed more than their single NFL championship ('51) of the decade... :? ;) :geek:
RAM SEASON!!
