Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
Bottom post of the previous page:
yes I realize the Staff resign is playing this yr, they really did not have a choice. I am torn with the lack of focus for them on the defensive side of the ball. we got lucky last year with injuries. IMO we are very thin on the back 7 so that is where I think they failed. I could be wrong but we shall see.DelMar wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 11:28 am
1. We did everything we could to keep Stafford. Yes, we had to play hard ball w him, but we got our guys. IMO, Staff may retire at end of this season or next
2. When management saw how close we were to making the SB this past season, they ALL had to see how close we are to being back in the dance. So, they made us better already. Upgraded WR spot, and other spots.
3. Everything we have done thus far, tells me the Rams believe this could be our year.
How do you not see this?
yes Adams signing is good let's hope he stays healthy.

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
Fair of course (I really like the pick btw). I think them adding to the D-line really helps those 2nd & 3rd levels as well of course. I want the best D-line on the planet.

Can never have too many pass rushers. Pretty good pick to be honest.

I guess they want to pressure relentlessly with having the D-line fresh on every down

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
Similar to the eagles last year.
There were times last year, when the rams DL tired out. For example week 1 vs the Lions in OT.
Teams like the Eagles have great depth on the DL. They can just keeping plugging in fresh bodies.

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
I really don’t like this draft at all other than the trade with Atlanta to get a 1st next year.
3rd Tight End in the 2nd round…
Extremely short D End
3rd RB
What are we doing? You are taking depth pieces when you need to find starters. The RB I can assume is going to be used when Kyren leaves. Don’t see them giving Kyren an extension. And TE I guess can be a replacement for Higbee.
But you really aren’t making your team better when you have holes in the starting unit, but instead use the draft to add backups to starters you feel ok about.

Exactly. Had to replace Hoecht, and gain great depth in the middle. They've done just that in FA and draft.

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
This draft feels like a very arrogant draft by the Rams. Arrogant in that they must believe both starters on each side of the ball are great.
I could see taking WR for depth. Look how many guys we lose next year.
I could see taking LB’er. Speights/Reeder aren’t Pro Bowlers. Were there really no LB’ers better than them in the draft? Taking the Michigan D End over Jack Sawyer if you were looking for Edges I don’t agree with. Likewise taking a TE over Will Johnson.
And OT? I mean Havenstein is always hurt and needs replaced soon. Look how many times we had to use backup OTs last year.
Not only did we pick depth pieces, we picked depth pieces at less valuable positions like TE/RB instead of OT/WR.
Just a baffling draft. Probably the least excited I’ve been about the draft since Tutu. Rams are going to need to hit a grand slam next year given all the guys at mega value positions next year (QB/OT/CB) that will need added

Trade Kyren now! The writing is on the wall that he is being replaced. Maybe we get a 7th for him?

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
quite obvious to me they don't value the LB position. to not draft one is mind boggling considering the group we have on the roster.Truth wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 12:01 pm This draft feels like a very arrogant draft by the Rams. Jordan is a tool for McVay and Snead to spread their lies/false rhetoric.

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
Totally agree - my term would be arrogance- O toys for McVay is a given BUT to display you do not respect certain positions is arrogant. Our ILB are poor - you take a very short Edge rusher instead ( not the Philly way) and our OT depth is scary bad . The whole O grinds down with no 3 rd OT.A TE selection when the TE is rarely utilized is just bizarre. IMO this draft group almost appears as if was a throw away effort & I do not see where the 2025 Rams are improved.

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
Eagles drafted Nolan Smith Edge in the 1st a few years back and he is 6-2 238. Pretty much the same size as Stewart.RonMac wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 12:13 pm Totally agree - my term would be arrogance- O toys for McVay is a given BUT to display you do not respect certain positions is arrogant. The Edge that just retired from. The eagles Brandon Graham is 6-2. Brandon been one of the best pass rushers the eagles have had over his long eagles career.

Maybe it's the meathead in me, but I always look at bench reps. Ever sine AD. He had 35 or so? I really wanted Limmer last year....he had 42 reps in think! Insane. So this guy with 35...love it. Bull rush, shed blocks. You need to be strong. I like that data point. Will see if he can do damage.
Now please.....grab a big OT nobody knows about!

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
Well said. I didn't like the trade but it happened. Next year will be much more interesting. I am happy with who they have drafted. I personally would have done it a little different, but they know more than me and I trust them.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 10:58 am So, for weeks leading up to the draft, the concensus here was that the Rams need to follow their board. Apparently doing just that. Do we trust them or not?
We almost wanted a LB or CB who could improve the defense. What do you do if you look at the players available, and say, "this guy isn't as good as the guy we've got now"? Do you draft him, just because fans want a LB? Or CB?
Drafting the position of need doesn't make you better, unless the player is better.
I agree that they can't commit top RB money to KW. This might be the reason for this pick.
In all honesty, I think the trade of #26 threw a wrench in everything. Lost 20 slots in that move, and lost a 3rd rounder. If you like that trade, you gotta bite the bullet and reap the rewards next year, but it obviously greatly impacted this year's quality of picks.

Why the heck would we trade him now for a 7th rounder? I don't understand that logic. We are going to ride this horse at least 1 more year. Can you please explain this logic?Rams fan since 1973 wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 12:02 pm Trade Kyren now! The writing is on the wall that he is being replaced. Maybe we get a 7th for him?

Re: WTF are the Rams doing this draft?
I wish upland could post what was said immediately after the playoff lost to Philly in here………
Many were saying we need a take it to the house RB and we need to improve the TE position. They did exactly that within their first 3 picks. After getting what they did from Atlanta in day one. And some are still not happy. Trading pick 26 changed this draft but they still got touted players in day 2 n 3. Now we wait.
And Chris Paul JR was a solid pick also. Very high % rate in made tackles. What we have been screaming for. Sure others before him were higher rated but Paul is a good football player in regards to his college career.
OL? I said I thought they may be happy as is. CB same.

1. to get excited about a 5th round pick, Paul, is delusional.....I know you love that word. reason he lasted that long IMO. I am not saying he isn't good but let's keep it real
2. Hunter.....they must have loved him a lot to make that trade. IMO RB was not a huge need. KW is a freakin stud and they haven't even given Corum a chance yet so now that puts Corum on the bench more.
3. Ferguson...like the pick...now let's hope they actually throw to a TE
4. This team needs a ton of help at the LB position and IMO they barely addressed it. Why?
5. I like the ATL trade but I can't lie I am bummed because we could have had Starks or Hairston.
6. OL....you and I are going to agree to disagree. Injuries then what???
again in McSnead we trust but I still have no issues making observations on their picks.

Or maybe, just maybe, they have a plan there. Trade coming.Bulldawg wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 10:41 amWilliams seems to get hurt a few games a year, and Corum hasn't done much. 3rd to 4th on the depth chart is NOT improving the skill positions period he will not get any carries compared to Kyren or Corum so how is that improving anything especially if he sits on the bench?
We added Ferguson I don't agree with the pick but Les and scouts know more so I will assume that was an upgrade at the skill positions. We don't need any QB, nor WR we have 2 starter quality RBs and TEs now so what else needs to be upgraded?
Last I checked we lost the Philly championship game on super pourous defense with long breakaway runs culminating in TDs. Maybe that is what we need to concentrate on ya think?! Offense was bad at the first half of the season due to injuries this season barring injuries and adding Devante. Ferguson we will be better. We need defense upgrades and we only got a backup OLB which we needed and Ford a great pickup at DT/NT.
Evidently the Rams are not as worried about the CB position as us.

Corum was not given much of a chance to play last year so not sure how people are saying he didn't do much. Let it be said I didn't like the pick when it happened and guess what as of today I was right. If they loved him they would not have drafted Hunter
