NFL Mock Drafts: Are They Ever Accurate?

Post by GlendoraRam »

As the NFL Draft approaches, fans, analysts, and teams are inundated with mock drafts—speculative predictions of which players will be selected by which teams, in what order. These exercises dominate sports media, fueling debates and shaping expectations. While they can be fun to play around with and they give sportswriters something to fill the void — with all the hype, noise, and nonsense, one question persists: Are NFL mock drafts ever accurate? The answer is complex, hinging on the nature of the draft, the expertise behind the mocks, and the unpredictable human elements at play.

it is so hard to predict the 1st round. one trade F's the entire draft. Plus you think some teams aren't going to let a certain player get by them and maybe that guy was never on the board.
Example: how many mocks do you see the Chargers taking Loveland due to the Michigan connection??? Maybe Harbaugh isn't high on him???

I like mocks because I'm a draft junkie, and it forces me to learn more about players I'm unfamiliar with. Aside from that, you could read 10 mocks, and see 10 different projections, so no, they're not accurate.

Yep, I am exactly the same. And, my mocks changed based on new information. Like you said, it is educational and interesting.

It's actually comical how many people think mock drafts are the tell all gospel. It never ceases to amaze me when the Rams make their 3rd rd pick 2 or 3 here will say "horrible pick, they could have gotten him in the 5th according to Walter football!"

0 out of 5,000 had Falcons drafting Pennix last year.

Hindsight, it might have been a good pick for them but nobody predicted it.

I remember years ago someone did a mock of mocks... where they would pull all the analysts mocks together and weigh them based on past performance, That would be cool to see but haven't been able to find it. They even added a weighing for fan mocks.

Mock drafts are stupid. I spent over a month getting excited at who the Rams might take. From Warren to Campbell, to Barron to Golden, all of who could come in and help the Rams immediately. Only to watch them trade the pick away. Warren would have cost us a fortune but Campbell was there for the taking. If we aren't able to address these positions in the next couple of rounds then we are going to have to do it next year plus we may need a QB, RT, and RB.

There are still some quality players out there but we have to hit on a couple new starters at CB and LB now IMO.

It seems pretty clear that the Rams are playing the 'long game' in getting themselves into position to trade up into the top ten next year, thereby being able to acquire a highly-regarded QB prospect in the 2026 NFL draft.

However, that does create plenty of pressure for our team to hit on its second-, third- and fourth-round selections while doing this year's drafting over the next two days... 8-) :?

RAM SEASON!!

And, ot entertains us while we have that months long wait from the SB to the draft. Just look back at all the interaction we had, mainly because of these stupid mocks. I dont put a lot of stock in them but I do love reading them.
