First time post and my 2 cents on Game
Long time reader on fan forum, but first time post... I guess trading insults never sounded appealing to me, but as long time Rams fans know, games like this are to rare... So here I'am.
The strength of the 49ers team is the 'O'line & 'D'line, along with the overall physicality of the way they play the game. Why is Tampa the best against the run? They have the edge at LB's over us, but I'd take the Rams from 4 over theirs! It's because you can't run the ball no matter how good you are at it, in the teeth of a blitz! They simply send more then you can block. What beat's Tampa's 'D' is good to great QB play and elite Receivers that can get open. Something We have and the Niners don't! Everytime Deebo is in the back feild and Mitchell on known run downs... I'd all out run blitz at those times. Put the game in Jimmy G's hands, and let the chips fall where they mae. Along with that, emphasize tackling, and NO YAC! And if the Rams at the very least can match the Niners physicality in a game like this... They won't deserve to move on!
On 'O'... As the 'O'line goes, so goes the Offense. They play well, we'll move the ball. We need to run the ball even tho the Niners have a Great front 7, even if were not getting much success with it ( tho I think We can and will) it will keep them honest! Absolutely Zero turnovers, and that's only magnified the bigger the game! A sack is better then a turnover, however not situationally! You can't take a sack in feild goal range! Also the Rams need to emphasize that if we get past the 50, at the very least we have to get at least 3, and if we get into the Red Zone We got to get 6.
Rams need 30 points to win this game. Much like a National election you need 270 Electorial votes, it prevents the other candidate from winning... I think 30 points by the Rams doesn't leave the Niners enough possession's to match that. Go Rams!

I would add wide receiver screens. Last game the 49’ers stuffed the middle and we never ran any screens. Short pass game can be as good ad as a run game.

^^^This^^^ I can only hope that Coach Mac would read this. Slants and quick passes to the RBs out of the backfield can function as a run game and keep us ahead of the sticks.
Then mix in some runs with mebbe 6 O linemen or 2 TEs.
We need to mix it up a bit and be so predictable.

How about no “empty back sets” why McVay still does this is beyond me. I would have Stafford run if nobody is open. Really change things up.

It would be nice to think the Rams could have a 90 yd runner Sunday or change up the O to flat passes, screens and such but we’ve tried that. For whatever reason when we hit WR screens, bubble screens and swing passes teams just seem to have a guy or two right in our face and it’s not just the Niners. Wheel routes, jet sweeps and misdirection plays are the key.
We have to run the ball but between the tackles will be tough as always. If we can get 60+ yards apiece from Akers and Michel and another 50 between them receiving we should win barring turnovers.
I have to disagree on run blitzes because whether pass rushing or run blitzing the Rams seem to leave too many lanes for Mitchell and Samuel. As I said in another thread, the Rams have to be physical but patient. 49ers will come out running. Keep everything in front of us in the 1st Q and play the run. We can rush with 4 later. Get a few stops and get a lead early…..and find a way to keep it this time!

Welcome! It isn't that bad just have to have thick skin sometimes. Solid takes. Going to be a tough game. Need to stop the run obviously and then get to Jimmy G. He is banged up. Need to get the kid in the game, Lance, and then it will be smooth sailing. Go Rams50YRRamsfan wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 8:09 pm Long time reader on fan forum, but first time post... Not confident that we will run the ball well at all. I think the key is to stop their run game, and Stafford will take care of the rest. If he plays like he has been- then guys will get open and move the ball. Gotta protect him for a few seconds obv. But if we stop their run game? We keep our D fresh, wear out their D line hopefully and roll to a victory. Jimmy G won't pick us apart.

I do think this is the Rams toughest Game left with either potential matchups they would face in the Super bowl.

Agree here. They have been gashing us on the ground running up the middle mostly... OP's run blitz suggestion is bang on and something we seldom do but against these guys should employ a lot.. we depend too much on the front to get penetration and blow up runs against stunts and double teams.....RAMFAN71 wrote: ↑January 28th, 2022, 9:48 am Not confident that we will run the ball well at all.
