What is our Covid Plan?

Post by Timking124 »

After experiencing the ill effects of a covid outbreak, I think we have to plan for worst case scenario.

I think we MUST sign a veteran qb to our practice squad. At this current moment we have no qbs on our practice squad and I don't think that is wise. We have to have a qb available that knows our playbook and signing someone now will giving a few weeks for just in case purposes.

Let's see if we can get Alex Smith, RG3, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Kaepernick, Andrew Luck, Philip Rivers or some retired veteran qb with playoff experience to sign on to be our emergency qb and place on our practice squad in the event that our whole qb room has to miss a game in the playoffs.

I think we should continue to let Snead and McVay worry about a plan…………

Now its seems like you are worried about Stafford. I think he had it last year, right? Im not saying he cant catch it again, but from what I have seen, it will be harder for those guys to catch it so easily. Another thing is that we have pretty much been keeping Perkins away from the squad for this exact reason. I do not think we need a VET, I think Perkins can stand in fine.

I could see if its a big game and bringing in a game manager like a Rivers (the other guys you posted are not coming back). But the issue is, Seans offense is so complex, it takes time. There is a rhythm to it and there is a massive playbook. If we signed anyone right now, I would look to OL and DL help.

Lastly, there was a report out that the Saints wanted Brees really bad a few weeks ago when just about everyone went down... what did Drew do? He sent back a video of him golfing and said thanks for no thanks. LOL.

DM this is in the event that our entire qb room gets covid. Perkins and Wolford would step in but in the event that every is out we should have a plan for that. I don't want to have our season die because we had to put a guy who doesn't know the playbook and inexperienced. I don't think designating one practice squad spot will hurt to a qb will hurt. The qb can even work virtually for all I care. I just want to have a safety net in the event of an outbreak in the qb room.

Yeah, I understand the theory, but if the 3 QBs all go down with Covid then we are screwed. You can legislate for it. Times we are living in unfortunately.

You are right but I think signing a vet to play 1 game atleast gives us a shot.

You'd be better signing someone like Duck Hodges I guess, I assume he's available? A poor QB who was in camp would be the best option, at least they'd understand the playbook?

You just have to look at the sorry state of the Saints last night against the Fins to show you how much an outbreak in the QB room can affect the team. Last week the Saints beat Brady and the Bucs. This week they looked a shell of themselves with some lad called 'Book' at the helm and had nothing going offensively.

The Fins D was just too good and contained what little the Saints could offer up.

"How about Cooper [Manning]? He's my favorite!"

Just kidding . . . That line in that commercial makes me laugh.

Honestly . . . COVID or no COVID, our lack of depth behind Stafford does scare me.

Duck signed a 3 year contract to play in the CFL....he was only on the team with a futures contract from January to August
