Wow! How did this topic on the Rams defense turn in to a 3rd grade "i know you are, but what am i" debate?

To touch back on the OP topic. I for one think the D ranking is a little delusional. Sure, they are "ranked" a top 10, but i think a lot of that can be credited to the offense and their time of possession dominance making the D look better than it truly is. All you have to do is watch the games. Its why the Rams cannot put teams away. If the opposition gets down, and needs a score, they do so. Chunk by chunk. Then the Rams, comfortable with the big lead, become passive on offense, punt, and the rinse and repeat.

I dont see a mean physical defense who can get the stop when they need it. A good example is with 3 mins left in the first half, Seattle 3rd and 16 run a draw play to kill the clock and gain 17 yards. Frustrating.

Obviously the Rams have a plan for a QB next year acquiring a second 1st round pick for a juicy trade up IF needed.

FWIW, I saw a tweet from some Ram's guy saying Allar would be the perfect fit. He's smart, mobile and doesn't turn the ball over. His comp is Josh Allen.

It all depends on where Atlanta ends up. We play them next year so we will have added incentive to beat them. ATL plays the AFC East and NFC West. Pretty tough schedule actually. 6-8 wins?

He was just insulting people left and right all the time. Glendora warned him in another thread like 5 days ago. He just wouldn't stop. Glendora is extremely tolerant and gives multiple warnings before banning someone. For him to actually ban Hellram is because the guy tested all his limits.

I made a post defending our CB room but I still think it's odd we haven't even added a CFA. Ramsey will eat up 20+ mil in cap space and require draft comp so I hope that's not the plan.

I was all over this during the game day chat.
My one thought is that perhaps McVay wants the special teams players to focus on their offensive and defensive duties (as back ups) rather than "wasting time" focusing on ST duties...so he figured it's better to just kick the ball into the end zone and let the opponents start on the 35 and not worry about spending time in practice reviewing coverage lanes and all that and also risking injury during the kickoffs. Pretty stupid if you ask me, but it's a theory I suppose.

No matter who goes down for the 9ers, their next man up's are unreal. Never have I seen a team w so many injuries hang in there. Sure, they lost yesterday... but come on, we can never stick a fork in them... we should know better and respect that coach. I mean, look at what Shanny is working with... yet, they have a winning record

Goodness, I hate the 49ers... But, have to respect them.

Greatest work? The last 2 drafts prior to this one may challenge that but like they say time will tell. But getting Atlanta’s #1 for a late pick in the first round is gold.

I hope not. Stafford likely won't be around much longer, and I think we're pretty close to giving him a healthy shot at another run already.

I'd just hate to mortgage the future on giving Stafford what might be another season or two run. I don't want to be something like the Steelers wherein a great ownership w/ top coaching and fans can't get over the lack of QB issue. Rams have a potential shot at a 10 year QB fix next season with that extra Falcon draft pick. Hate to see it slip away for anything short term.

Yes I'd love another Super Bowl win, but not at the gamble of "all in" this time. We'll have a young defense that will need to be paid soon, so maybe a great time to lock into a rookie QB contract. As long as Stafford is playing, I'm guessing we'll be drafting near the end of each round.


I guess we'll see what June 1st brings. One thing McSnead has shown us is they don't need to develop high DP's to build a competitive team. Maybe they save them as you suggest and package the 1st rounders next for another established vet like Staff. ie Burrow, Allen etc...

EDIT: I see that there's a good chance we get a home game 2nd round if we are the 5 seed. So just for that, I would rather play hard and win out with Stafford. Rest only the real injuries.

I've seen a few posters now assuming that the Rams were Lucky to beat Indy.
I don't get how.
Rams had 130 more yards, 4 more 1st downs and 7 more points.
With 12 minutes left in the 4th Q, after a series of back and forth punts between the 2 teams, Indy scored a TD that gave them a 17-13 lead.
1st play of the ensuing Rams Drive, KW fumbles, Indy ball on the Rams 17.
Rams D holds them to a FG, 9 minutes left 20-13 Indy.
Rams ensuing drive they go 83 yards in 11 play in 5+minutes for the TD. 20-20
Ensuing Colts drive Rams D forces a punt, Rams ball on their 12. 1 Play 88 yards to Tutu, TD Rams 27-20
Ensuing and final Indy drive, Jones gets Picked off throwing deep at the Rams 41 on 1st and 15 from the Indy 27. Rams kneel a couple plays... game over. I don't get how the Colts were unlucky. We took it from them.
With it on the line our D got punts and a FG, they gave up TDs.


I think they say this because of the guy who fumbled right before his TD... after that, everything changed. But I agree w you, we weren't lucky... we just flat out won.

When these Rams start getting smart and play to the best of their abilities, watch out.. im telling you, 66... we will beat everyone. Not being a homer either, I think it only a matter of time we catch a burner like last season...

We had some drops and things that cost us too, it's not just a 1 way street. That one is just more obvious and dumb...

The Rams will need to be dealt with if you have SB hopes and if Shula can get the D to not play so soft sometimes we may be the team to beat.
The reason there's no clear favorite right now is because everyone sits their starters out of pre-season games.
The end result is the rash of sloppy blunders and slow starts all over the league and we've been no different.
The good teams will separate from the rest as we go along.

I actually agree with Cowherd, which is not always the case. We spend our time hoping/wishing for a QB in next year's draft, while finding a franchise QB is still 50% hit rate in the first round. All the talk on Archie Manning is the same talk we heard on Trevor Lawrence. We need to realize that we are living in the "Good ole days" right now! Stafford is our best chance for another SB win. Yes, we need to always be looking toward the future, but not at the expense of the now.

Here are all the QBs drafted in the last 4 years in round 1...how many of these QBs would you rather have this year, than Stafford? (I don't care about Fantasy stats...who can help us win a SB.)

Ferg is needed. The other Tight Ends are not very good. Park can't catch, Higs is up in years and can't stay healthy and Allen hands were bad last week. The last two weeks Ferg imo is TE 1

Bennett future is a capable backup, that knows the system. Soon Stafford will retire, and the Rams will draft his replacement.

QB depth chart will be Rookie/FutureFranchise QB, JG and Bennett. A year later JG will move on and it will be future franchise qb and Bennett.

Even if the Falcons win, it doesnt mean tbe pick will be that much worse. Might only mean 1 or 2 spots in the draft vs a niners lost, which could be the difference between winning an losing the division this year.

Only concern is OT. We have depth at center and guard but I am not sure who they are going to do when hav or AJ goes down. It seems Our current back ups will not be up to the task just like last year.


Agreed and the answer is… Seasoned Vets.

These are glaring holes and Rams know we need more help in these spots. Rams have to be waiting for cuts from other teams that can’t afford to keep them…. So we’ll see some quality guys come June 1.
